Okay, so we all know you the ol' adage, 'Don't Drink and Drive'. How about 'Don't Drink and Eat'? Think about it!

Preschool Holiday Visitor...Has Whiskers
After having discovered we might have a possible little rodent in one, or several, of the preschool classrooms I help out in...I drew this little guy to help lighten the worry of some of the instructors
and to give the little classroom visitor a cuter interpretation.

The Morning After Halloween
Wondering how many of those little Goblins were gobbling all that Halloween candy last night... and are not feeling so chirper today? If it's any consolation to them...I can relate. Ugh :-)

Politics and Halloween...Ugh!
As someone who is not particular a fan of politics, these days have me feeling even more so. How ironic that all this nasty, messy, campaigning is coinciding with Halloween. Each side is hitting it hard and wearing identical ugly outfits and fooling no one (I wish) as to who they are. Happy Halloween!

Cool Parents...or just Cool Shades
This past weekend my wife and I, along with a select group of other parents, took part in Coe College's
Parents Weekend. We are all part of the Parent Advisory Council at Coe! It was a fantastic weekend and we were once again, incredibly impressed by the faculty and students!__After a day of meetings, they gathered us up on a stairway, gave us cool shades, and....waaaaalaaaaa! Here you have us! :-)

The Iowa State Fair....BEER COW!
It's Iowa State Fair time again and, as always, you're constantly hearing about the famous, BUTTER COW. But we never hear about her lesser known counterpart.

Birth Announcement Fun!
I was so happy the new parents I did this for got a big kick and laugh out of this illustration :-) The mom is known for her big, pretty eyes and the dad stands 6"5". I combined the best of both worlds!

A special order(s) from a college friend!
Last year I had the honor of creating an illustration celebrating a college friend's father's 75th birthday. Imagine my joy when that friend called on me, again, this year to creating an illustration celebrating his mother's 75th birthday! That's special stuff :-)
Embarrassing Entrance Through The Exit!
Another gag cartoon from a couple years back done for American Greetings website, in collaboration with gag writer, Jed Vier.__ A good strategy doesn't always look pretty when executed, but it gets the job done!

T.G.I.F....Casual Friday, that is!
Celebrating the fact it's FRIDAY, I thought I'd share a cartoon of mine that appeared in NATIONAL LAMPOON'S FAVORITE CARTOONS OF THE 21ST CENTURY! __It's supposed to be 101 degrees here, AGAIN, today. That pretty much guarantees it's going to be a Casual Friday around here!

Sitting outside in 102 Heat Index
I spent the evening last night cheering on our local high school softball team...while sitting out in 102 degree heat index. Not a pretty sight :-)

Colorful Underwear makes all the difference.
I threw a little color on a b/w cartoon I posted a few days ago. __I guess it's true...Colorful
underwear makes all the difference.

Social Media..Social Embarrassment
There's a lot of upsides to social media. One downside is how anything we say or do is now immediate material that can be shared...whether we like it or not.

Consequences for our actions...
'If you're gonna play the game...there are always going to be consequences'__That about sums up this cartoon :-)

Blowing My Top on Friday!
My most relaxing and enjoyable artwork is just letting my mind and pen go. Which is what you have here. Good luck figuring out the deeper meaning :-) Have a wonderful Friday!

Caricatures for Colorado Convention
To be honest, I'm not one to do too many caricatures. But recently a business approached me to do 35 b/w caricatures for a powerpoint presentation that they'd be showing at a conference they'd be attending in Colorado. I spent way too much time on these but as someone who isn't really comfortable doing caricatures...I'm proud of myself for getting them done and getting through it. The good news is, the client was extremely happy with them! So lets hope this means repeat business is in my future!

Nature's Outdoor Bathroom Etiquette
When studying nature you discover some interesting things. Like the lack of privacy when using an outdoor bathroom.

Thinking of my SWEETHEART while at the softball field
In an effort to help my wife with her coaching duties, I have tried to volunteer a bit more up at the softball field with general field maintence. I'm glad to help if it means getting her, my sweetheart, back home a little sooner each evening.

Enjoying the company of fellow NATIONAL CARTOONISTS SOCIETY members (friends)!
This weekend members of the North Central Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society traveled to Des Moines, Iowa, to take part in a NCS activity. The night before that activity my wife and I had the great pleasure of having these folks (Paul and Arlene Fell, Mike Edholm, James Hungaski, Kelly McNutt, Tom Richmond, John Hambrock and Chris Sinclair) to our home, where we delighted in an evening of laughter and great camaradie! What a super talented group of really nice folks!

What Startled The Frogs?
Late in the evening of this past Saturday night, after my wife had fallen asleep, I just had this
weird urge to draw some frogs. Please, do ask me why because I have no idea. I just know that for some reason drawing frogs sounded fun....and as it turns out...IT WAS! You can see, or judge, for yourself from the drawing that came out of that :-)

Remembering My Wonderful Mother-In-Law
In a world of jokes about awful Mother-In-Laws, I count myself considerably lucky to have been blessed with one of the truly great ones! Clarice Wright would have been 89 today. She passed just over 3 years ago, from Alzheimers. She was an amazing woman. Funny (hilarious, actually), intelligent, opinionated, caring, kind, tough, stubborn, supportive, helpful, unselfish, a great grandmother to our kids and very loving in her way. She blessed me with her daughter, my wonderful wife...for which I am eternally grateful.___We, I, miss you, Clarice. Happy Birthday!

Valentine's Day Cartoon Sketch
I drew the attached cartoon, on pink construction paper, during 'Nap Time' at my part-time job, today. Hated to think of just tossing it, so brought it home and gave it to my wife as part of her Valentine present. Fortunately, and thankfully, she didn't interpret it as the little dog was supposed to be 'ME' and the big dog was supposed to be 'HER'.__I shall live to see another Valentine's Day!

Evening Drawing Cartoons for kids of 4H
This evening I had the great pleasure of doing some cartooning with, and for, 14 kids of 4H and some of their parents! It was a real treat! I showed up a half an hour before I was to present...but the presenter before me was finishing up, so they let me jump right in. I was only to present for 30 minutes, but it's a good thing I started when I did because it went about 45 or 50 minutes long...and that wasn't a bad thing because I was having so much fun! The kids showed some really good and fun talent, and the parents asked some awesome questions! I think they enjoyed my presentation and I can tell you they did my spirit a lot of good too!

My better half, Kim, and I are presenting our personal story today to a class on CREATIVITY, at Drake University! This should be interesting...I can hardly wait to hear what we make up...I mean, what we have to say :-)
