The Old Water Hole
While looking through samples for a presentation I will be giving this weekend I came across a lot of work I had done for Children's magazines that I had forgotten about. For instance, this Water Hole/Crossword Puzzle piece done for Crayola Kids Magazine! This was fun stuff to work on!

Back when I was pregnant!
Ha! I was looking through some old photo albums recently when I discovered this polaroid taken when I was 24 weeks along in my pregnancy back in 1989. __Okay, so I wasn't preggers, but just having some fun with my wife (and dalmatian, Samantha) in the nursery before we started decorating it.___Oh, I felt it kick!

Hanging with the boys in Lincoln, NE!
This Friday I will be hitching a ride over to Lincoln, NE, with my friends, Tom Richmond and Cedric Honstadt! We are part of the North Central Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society, and on Saturday we will be doing some serious judging of a particular category for the NCS Reuben Awards (to be held later this year in New Jersey). But first we have to get through (survive) our social time Friday night!___I can't wait!

Valentine's Day and more snow!
Okay, it's Valentine's Day, my wife and I exchanged Valentines, shared a hug and a kiss...and then headed outside to, ONCE AGAIN, shovel and snowblow five driveways. It's cold, sweaty work, but both of us are able to appreciate the beauty that is winter.__ That's not to say that looking at this photo of our backyard from last May, didn't make us not look forward to Spring! Oh yeah, we're looking forward to it!!!

Anything worth having is worth working for!
I realized a long time ago that anything worth having in life will require work...maybe a lot of work. For instance, like in this cartoon, if you desire to have a chiseled chest, the answer isn't in a bottle. The answer is in a lot of hard, physical work.___Unless your goal is big ol' man boobs...then maybe the answer is in a bottle :-)

Parenting 101: Set a Good Example
I take great pride in being a good father to my two children, and I totally believe in setting the good example for them in everything I do__as witnessed in this photo from the 2000 Iowa State Fair, where I demonstrated, on my son, Satchel, the proper way to mark your young. ___ Phew!____Anyhow, both my kids have turned out to be wonderful people of whom I am most proud...despite my being their father :-)

1992- Baby's Room
Another old newspaper article I came across was this one from October, 1992. The photo shows 3 year old Satchel sitting in a rocking chair in the nursery Kim and I had created. Satch's little sister, Riley, would be born two months after this photo appeared.___We had a dalmatian, Sam, at the time and went with that as the room's theme...thus all the spots, plus we created cartoon characters on foamcore, cut them out, painted'em and hung them on the walls. Wooden shelving units were made, not by me, to look like gym lockers. Oh, and there were glow-n-the-dark stars all over the ceiling. It was a lot of work....but very rewarding and so worth it!

The Joneses make the news...circa, February, 1995
Wow, time flies! Just found this newspaper article from February, 1995,...15 years ago. The article was about a line of apparel my wife had created using our 5 year son's artwork. The line was called, SATCHMAN, after our son Satchel's nickname, Satchman. The apparel was created to honor his big brother, Max, who passed away shortly after birth in 1988. A percentage of the proceeds went to charities.___Proud stuff!
